Stress Reduction Therapy

Stress Reduction Therapy is a practice that incorporates breathing techniques, meditation, and physical relaxation through therapeutic touch while seeking to educate the client as to where the body holds stress. This therapy helps to trigger the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for bringing the body’s response system back into equilibrium. Stimulating the PNS also helps to lower heart rate and blood pressure, assists in the promotion of a healthy immune system and returns the endocrine system to a balanced condition.

You will be fully clothed for this session. You are positioned on the floor and supported by yoga props/bolsters in a dimly-lit room. The practitioner uses a light grounding touch to calm your body and allow it to relax where needed. Most sessions last approximately one hour and include head and foot massage for added relaxation.
